Arts in the UK Regions
|
We
recommend that prospective students take some time to find out more
about all the UK regions, so they can choose to study in a place that
suits their needs and excites their creativity.
|
The United Kingdom is made up of the countries England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and is divided into twelve administrative regions.
Every UK region has its own distinctive characteristics. Your experience as an artist or designer in each UK region will vary due to factors such as local industry, the history and geography of the area and aspects of the local culture. It is as a result of this diversity that so many artists and designers flourish in the UK’s creative industries
Universities and Colleges of Art & Design are widely distributed across the UK regions and each instituition
provides its students with a unique environment for their study and leisure
activities.

| The
UK government recognises the creative industries' contribution to the
economy. The Arts Council England, the Scottish Arts Council , the
Arts Council for Northern Ireland and the Arts Council for Wales are
independent organisations that use government money to develop and
promote the arts across the UK. The government also provide financial
backing for the UK Film Council , the Crafts Council and the Design
Council . All funding is divided between the 12 UK regions. |
